Position Details

The City of P ark Ridge is seeking an experienced, proactive law enforcement professional with outstanding leadership and administrative skills who is committed to community service to fill the position of Deputy Police Chief.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Police Chief, the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation and general supervision of the Park Ridge Police Department.

These functions include, but are not limited to:

• Coordination, direction and supervision of police personnel
• Training and professional development of police department members
• Represents the City in all manners with law enforcement agencies, government agencies, and outside professional and community group, and other duties as delegated by the Police Chief
• The position is second in command and serves as the Police Chief in the case of absence 

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must possess the ability to develop a good working relationship with City staff, City Department Heads, City Council, other area law enforcement agencies, area organizations, and the community.
• A Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a closely related field, and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive policing experience is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Successful completion of the FBI National Academy, School of Police Staff and Command, or advanced Police Supervision and Administration courses is preferred.
