Position Details

The Village of Berkeley (population: 5,200) is accepting applications for part-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions.

Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, this employee provides direct services, individually and as a member of a team in response to fire, rescue, hazmat and other incidents.

Additionally, a Firefighter/Paramedic will respond to medical emergencies and provide pre-hospital Advanced Life Support (ALS) care to victims of injury or illness; and other similar municipal work, as assigned.

A successful candidate is required to:

• Have a minimum of one-year experience as a Paramedic and Firefighter
• Have a valid Class B Non CDL Illinois driver's license
• Have a valid Illinois EMT-P license in good standing in the Loyola EMS System or enter the system upon hire
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have a minimum of FF 2 / Basic by Illinois OSFM training
• Have earned a high school diploma or GED equivalent at the time of application 

The nature of the work requires that the employee be capable of working outdoors year-round in sometimes harsh conditions, be capable of physically demanding work to include bending, heavy lifting, climbing, and driving.

The Berkeley Fire Department is staffed 24 hours a day with employees working 12 hours shifts.
