West Central Consolidated Communications – WC3 began operations in early May 2018 providing 9-1-1 call processing, police, fire, and EMS dispatch for its four member municipalities including; Brookfield, McCook, North Riverside, and Riverside. WC3 exists through intergovernmental agreement of its member municipalities as a local government unit, tasked with the duty to provide citizens the critical link to emergency services.
West Central Consolidated Communications – WC3 is seeking full-time and part-time 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicators to become part of the WC3 dispatch center team. The opportunity to apply for these positions is open ended with periodic testing and recruitment as necessary.
The purpose of this position is to answer 9-1-1 and other incoming phone calls and to process requests for and dispatch police, fire, and EMS services. Determining the accurate location of callers promptly and courteously, while efficiently processing information for dissemination to public safety responders. Adhering to WC3 policy and procedure to ensure timely information processing, while monitoring and recording the status of units on assignment. Talking on and listening to police, fire, and EMS responders on multiple radio systems while working with others in the dispatch center to assist team members with their duties. Use of multiple computer systems, to include 9-1-1 phone and radio systems, computer aided dispatch systems, and mapping systems. Maintaining numerous certifications including Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), law enforcement data entry/retrieval systems, and others. Monitoring municipal camera systems, to include jail and prisoner housing. Additional duties also include training new employees, general office tasks, individual training, and answering routine questions from citizens.

$18.00 - $25.00/hour DOQ with no benefits
After hiring and initial training, part-time employees will be provided opportunity to provide their work availability and select schedule openings up to a month in advance. They can work full shifts or part of a shift, depending on availability and scheduling needs. Part-time employees are limited to a maximum of 1000 hours per year with the expectation of a minimum of eight (8) hours worked per month to maintain knowledge and skills.
$45,000/year DOQ with competitive benefit package
The position is non-exempt under FLSA and overtime can be expected.
WC3 operates on an 8 hour shift schedule, using a 5-3, 6-2 rotation which includes holidays and weekends. Employees may be required to work longer than 8 hour shifts, including during holidays and weekends. Employees must be available to work on short notice, or to remain on shift on short notice as necessary.
