Position Details

The City of Park Ridge is seeking an experienced, dedicated professional with outstanding leadership and administrative skills who is committed to community service to fill the position of Deputy Fire Chief.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation and general supervision of the Park Ridge Fire Department.

These functions include, but are not limited to:

• Directing the activities and personnel of the Fire Department personnel
• Maintaining efficient use and procurement personnel and equipment
• Supervise operations using data and metrics
• Responds to major fires and rescue situations, serving in leadership capacities
• Directs in all programs pertaining to public education, and performs related work as required.
• The Deputy Chief assumes the responsibilities of the Fire Chief in his/her absence 

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must possess the ability to develop a good working relationship with City staff, City Department Heads, City Council, other area law enforcement agencies, area organizations, and the community.
• Five (5) years minimum command level experience in a full time career department.
• Graduation from college with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree is required.
• Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal at the Fire Officer II or Advanced Fire Officer level; Competencies equivalent to the certification are defined in the national Fire Protection Association Standard 1021, Chapter 2 and 3.
• Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal at the Hazardous Materials Operations level.
• Valid Class B non-CDL or greater Illinois Driver's License.
