The Ranger Police Officer enforces the Illinois Compiled Statutes and District Rules and Regulations on District lands.
Responsible for the protection of the public and natural resources. Provides public relations field support, surveillance, emergency assistance, and assistance to local law enforcement agencies.
The Lake County Forest Preserve District's Public Safety Department has a Community Oriented Policing philosophy and is responsible for maintaining the peace and initiating activities that build positive relationships with the public.
The selected candidate will conduct high visibility patrols on foot, bike, or vehicle to prevent crime or disturbance of the peace, control traffic, maintain order, conduct surveillance, investigations, make arrests and provide emergency assistance.

A completed application must be submitted by September 17, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
Selected candidates must be available on October 9, 2021 to complete a written test.
Candidates will be required to produce a valid POWER test card prior to participating in the written test. POWER test cards will be considered valid if issued within twelve (12) months PRIOR to testing date (October 10, 2020 – October 9, 2021).
Selected candidates will be notified regarding details of the testing day via email after the application deadline.
