Position Details

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR CITY OF WOOD RIVER POLICE OFFICERS

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Wood River will be accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer.

Eligibility List Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Citizen of the United States
• Reside within either Madison County, IL or within 15 miles “as the crow flies” of the City limits of Wood River (within the State of IL) within 12 months of hire date.
• Pass the stringent testing program including a physical agility test conforming to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Board Standards.
• Upcoming tests through SWIC will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday September 11, 2021.  More information and registration can be found at https://www.swic.edu/academics/career-certificates/homeland-security/southwestern-illinois-police-academy/power-test-card/
• You are required to have your power test card before the Written and Oral exams begin.
• Have at least 20/30 vision in each eye or 20/100 vision correctable to 20/20.
• Be at least 21 years of age & under 35 years of age except as otherwise provided by statute.
• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Meet all other qualifications as set forth in the rules and regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Wood River, IL.
