Position Details

The Village of Carol Stream's Police Department seeks a highly motivated and organized individual, with an interest in law enforcement and emergency management to serve as a valuable team member in coordinating various administrative and operational department activities.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Leading the emergency management and disaster preparedness program through the coordination of personnel, communication and resources;
• Participating in the development and oversight of the department's budget and long-range plans;
• Performing research, organizational studies, and program analysis.
• Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison to other departments and agencies for emergency preparedness or other coordinated programs. 

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in an emergency management related field, demonstrated skill leading and coordinating operational efforts, excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to local emergency management operations.
• Strong decision-making and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with others is essential. 

Qualified individuals must possess the following: 

• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, Master's degree preferred, and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• A valid Illinois Vehicle Operators License
• Knowledge of computer applications (including MS Word, Excel, and Access); and ability to learn and use mapping applications.
• Completion of NIMS and/or Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation program training and certification preferred.
