Position Details

The Position:

The Lewis University Police Department is a trained, professional organization committed to providing a safe and secure educational and working environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The Campus Safety Officer is a member of the Police Department's professional staff. We currently have an opening for a full-time Campus Safety Officer. The function of the Campus Safety Officer is to maintain security and safety for assigned areas, effectively respond to requests for service and enforce University policies. Campus Safety Officers are part of the University's team of first responders equipped to assist in various emergency and non-emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to walk, run, climb, provide assistance to persons in distress, operate required equipment, work outdoors in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to work with flexible schedules involving evening, weekend and holiday work.

Preferred Qualifications:

The most qualified candidates will have successfully completed some level of post-secondary education and have previous public safety experience in addition to being proficient in common business computer software applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
