Position Details

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Oak Brook: 

• U.S. citizenship;
• No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration);
• Valid state-issued driver's license;
• Possess 20/20 corrected vision;
• Meet Department tattoo restrictions policy (Tattoos and brands that cannot be concealed by the uniform of the day (short sleeve in summer), without alteration or accommodation, are prohibited.);
• Minimum of 21 years of age by the application deadline (November 30, 2021) and under 35 years of age, unless the applicant is exempt from that age limitation under Section 10-2.1-6 of the Act
• Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent;
• Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at an accredited college, university or junior college (official transcripts will be required at the background investigation stage) or have at least one year of active military or naval service (documented by an honorable discharge) by the application deadline date; and
• Possess a valid Power Test card valid within one year of the oral interview. POWER Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton College or Joliet Junior College will be accepted.
