Job Requirements: 

• Age: Must be 21 years old at the time of application and under the age of 35 (as of the posting of the initial eligibility list unless otherwise provided by 65ILCS 5/10-2.1-6). Exemptions for military or prior police experience.
• US Citizen: Must be a U.S. Citizen
• High School Grad/GED: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Valid ILLINOIS State Driver's License: Valid driver's license (does not need to be IL)
• Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
• Vision: Binocular vision correctable to 20/20
• College: Must have Associate's or 60 credit hours toward a Bachelor's degree.
• Academy Certification:
• No Prior Experience
• No Necessary Certifications
• Valid Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) issued by testing date (10.2021). POWER test cards considered valid if issued within one (1) year PRIOR to testing date (10.2021 – 12.2021)
• POWER tests may be taken at one of the following testing agencies:
• NIPSTA – Glenview, IL – www.nipsta.org
• Joliet Junior College – www.jjc.edu

Additional Requirements: 

• Residency required within 50 miles of Lisle within the state of Illinois by the first date of employment.
• No felony convictions. 

Hiring Process:

1. Complete the Lisle Police Department application process. This includes completing the National Testing Network's Frontline exam, personal history questionnaire, Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA), and uploading a completed application with all necessary documentation. Applications with missing documentation will not be considered.
2. Oral interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
3. Background investigation
4. Polygraph exam
5. Psychological exam
6. Physical exam 

Preference Points:

Preference points will be awarded for the following: (points are non-cumulative; maximum 5 points awarded)

• Education (5 points) – Associate's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement or Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college/university.
• Military (5 points) – Minimum of one (1) year of full-time active military service in any branch of the U.S. Military with honorable discharge.
• Experience (5 points) - Current employment as a full-time or part-time law enforcement officer in the state of Illinois. A certificate from the Illinois Local Government Law Enforcement Officer Training and Standards Board must be presented.
