Are you a Firefighter or Firefighter/Paramedic with a passion for community service and interested in becoming part of a great team?
The Village of Glencoe is seeking individuals to become Paid-on-Call Firefighters and Firefighter/Paramedics ("POC FFs") to supplement its full-time sworn Public Safety Officers.
Our team is made up of people with diverse backgrounds and experience, and we share a common goal – providing the very best services to the Glencoe community.
Our vision is to make Glencoe the community that people choose to live, work and do business, by providing innovative, responsive, high-quality public services in an environmentally and fiscally sustainable manner. Everyone on our team contributes to us achieving this vision! This means that we put our customers' needs first, we strive to be leaders and innovators, and we believe in always looking for ways to improve.
The Glencoe Public Safety Department is a full-service, combined public safety department that is staffed by civilians as well as sworn Public Safety Officers, who are fully cross-trained to provide police, fire, and emergency medical services, and is supplemented by civilian POC FFs. The Village is a member of MABAS Division 3. Because of the urgent nature of emergency responses and mutual aid network activations, POC FFs must be able to respond to calls and report for duty with very little advanced notice, and must be capable of responding to calls on an as-needed basis and reporting to work within 30 minutes of being called. POC FF/Paramedics may be used to provide supplemental staffing and work full 24 hour shifts to fill vacant shifts.
Education and Experience:
Diversity, equity and inclusion are critical to the Village's success. The Village seeks to recruit the most talented individuals from a diverse candidate pool and strongly encourages applications to be submitted from all genders, all races, all sexual orientations, people with disabilities and military veterans. The Village is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive workforce in which all employees are valued, respected and have a sense of belonging. The Village is proud to have a diverse workforce in which all individuals are celebrated.
