Salary:

• Information:

  • Current Starting Salary: $63,733.36 including the nine paid holidays (as of 05/01/22 - $65,334.30)
  • Annual Step Increases as well as Annual Cost of Living Increases
  • Current Top Salary: $90,783.12 including the nine paid holidays (as of 05/01/22 - $93,056.80)
  • Lateral Hire Salary: Lateral hires are eligible to start at an increased step rate, up to step three, depending on training and experience.  Current step three - $73,976.64 including the nine paid holidays (as of 05/01/22 - $75,828.40)

   

  Paid Time Off:

  • Vacation (43 hours after 6 months, 86 hours after completion of 1 year)
  • Sick (60 hours annually)
  • Comp time accrual (up to 120 hours)

  Shift Scheduling:

  • Twelve hour shifts, with three day weekends every other weekend
  • Permanent annual shift rotation based on bid system; upon completion of probationary period

  Pension:

  Round Lake Park Police Pension Fund is well funded and accepts the transfer of other pensions into the fund, including Article 3 (Downstate), Article 5 (Chicago), and Article 7 (IMRF), in accordance with current Illinois pension transfer rules/laws.  The pension funds transferred will be used to determine an officers pensionable service time.

Position Details

The Round Lake Park Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

Testing is being conducted to fill current open full-time Police Officer positions and to establish an Eligibility List for future available positions.

Minimum Requirements:

• $25.00 non-refundable application processing fee
• U.S. Citizenship
• No felony convictions
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid driver’s license
• 20 to under 35 years of age as of January 10, 2021 unless otherwise exempt by Statute; Must be 21 years of age upon selection and entry into the academy
• Must have valid and current POWER test card dated no more than six (6) months prior to test date (cards valid if dated 7/10/21 to 1/10/22)
• Must pass all phases of hiring process including oral interview, polygraph test, psychological exam, medical exam, drug screen and background investigation

Orientation and Testing:

The Round Lake Park Police Department will be offering in home testing to all eligible candidates the week of January 10th. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually Monday- Friday, during business hours. Eligible candidates will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam. Additional information will be provided to those eligible to test. All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.
