  Lateral Entry - Earn up to 4 years of service time toward the pay scale. Persons who have previous law-enforcement experience and who have successfully completed their state certification and are in good-standing with the Illinois Police Training Board are eligible for this program.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is now hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office offers advanced training and opportunities such as:

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's license upon hiring.
• Age Requirements: Must have attained their 21st birthday at the time of the last date for filing applications
• Education: Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or High School Proficiency Certificate.
• Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character
• Eyesight: Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20 in each eye.
• Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all phases of the testing.
• Residency: Within thirty (30) days after completion of their probationary period, must reside within twenty-one (21) miles of the Public Safety Building located at 615 North Main St., Belvidere, Illinois.
