Becoming a Juvenile Counselor for the 19th Judicial Circuit Court, Hulse Detention Center, would allow you to be involved with restorative justice solutions for court-involved youth. Your day will consist of handling routine and crisis situations and observing and recording behavior patterns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Juvenile Counselors are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all court-involved youth and employees in the Hulse Juvenile Detention Center and the FACE-IT Residential Program.
• It is a direct care position which entails working with a group of youth daily.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Individuals should have a working knowledge of adolescent growth, development, behavioral psychology, and modern correctional practices
• Possess the ability to effectively problem solve
• Have the ability to work both individually and in a team atmosphere
• Education Required:
• Applicants must have a Baccalaureate degree, related field in human service preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth is desired.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to physically participate in restraints of hostile youth when all verbal de-escalation attempts have failed. 

Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screening, drug and alcohol testing and may include a pre-employment medical exam.
