Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support services position of the police department reporting directly to the CSL Supervisor.  Requires handling of sensitive police information of a confidential nature.  General police record keeping duties, including preparation of court related documents, general customer service duties, maintaining LEADS records, and matron duties which will include searching of female prisoners/detainees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• LARS coding and mailing of accident reports for the Illinois Department of Transportation
• Maintain Missing Persons records
• Preparation of arrest files to facilitate transfer of prisoners to court
• Maintain mug shots and court dispositions
• File case reports
• Racial profiling required by the State of Illinois
• Process insurance inquiries, receive cash, issue receipts
• Active warrant entries and maintenance of warrant records
• Entry of accident reports, and entry and maintenance of Gang F. I. cards for officer safety
• 24 hour monitoring of prisoner, booking, lockup areas, building alarms and the Public Safety Building 
• Order and assure pickup of prisoner meals three (3) times per day
• Change and maintain tapes of lockup area and the entire building every 24 hour period
• Act as front desk clerk, answer phones, handle all window traffic
• Pull files for court docket four (4) times per month, and re-filing of same. 
• Process all aspects of tow and/or impounded vehicles
• Process bike registrations
• Upkeep and maintain office equipment
• Will be required to train new CSL team members
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Successful completion of local Civil Service examination process  
• 3-5 years of front facing customer service experience
• 3-5 years of administrative experience which included maintaining a filing system 
• 1-2 years of cash handling experience. 
• Must be able to type at least 30 wpm accurately
• Prior experience handling confidential and/or sensitive information 
• The Village may accept a combination of training and experience which provide equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities

MATRON DUTIES:

The Matron is charged with assisting female prisoners/detainees as directed by the officer-in-charge.  The duties of the Matron shall include the physical ability without restrictions to search all female prisoners/detainees before they are confined.
