  Starting salaries are set by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police and are not subject to change based on an applicant's prior experience.

Position Details

The Champaign County Court Services Department is hiring to fill current vacancies for Court Services Officers in the Juvenile Detention and Adult Probation Divisions.

Juvenile Detention Officer:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Direct care, custody and discipline for detained minors
• Performing admissions/release functions
• Monitoring activities and participating in programming
• Maintaining security
• Transportation of minors

The Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center is a round-the-clock, 25-bed, secure facility.

This position requires officers to work shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Shifts vary from 9 hours to 11 hours (75 hours per 2-week pay period).

Probation Officer:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Supervision and case management of clients
• Court report writing and appearances in Court
• Conducting interviews and assessments
• Collaboration with providers, agencies, families, employers, schools 

Adult Probation Officers generally work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (75 hours per 2-week pay period).

The qualifications for this position require that the applicant:

• Have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Be a citizen of the United States
• Be a resident of the State of Illinois within 90 days of appointment
• Pass a background check, including psychological and physical exams
• Possess a valid driver's license
