Salary:

• New officers will start at: $66,913 before overtime

  After one year, base pay increases to $72,820, and up to $83,969 after four years.

  Including overtime, an officer with four years of experience at UIPD can earn more than $90,000.

  Additionally, all employees receive a 100% tuition waiver at state universities, and employees with seven years of service get a 50% tuition waiver for their children.

Our officers are fully-sworn, and the University of Illinois Police Department is a 24-hour operation.

The department is accredited through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, and it offers all the traditional police services like patrol, emergency response, investigations and community outreach.
