The Village of Northbrook Police Department seeks an individual to lead and supervise the community relations activities of the Police Department.
The Community Relations Supervisor serves as a liaison between the Police Department and the community through the development and presentation of public education programs, media relations activities, and crime prevention activities. This position supervises and assists in the property custody section.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills to organize and coordinate police presentations at community special events, to prepare and release information concerning Police investigations and procedures to the public and to respond to specific requests for information. This position performs Public Information Officer duties as directed and responds to requests for information. Recruits and trains Community Service Officers and Crossing Guards and coordinates the CSO program.
Applicants should have related police department or law enforcement experience and/or related education equivalent to a two year college degree. Candidates must have a professional demeanor and sensitivity to maintain effective working relations with other employees and interact tactfully with the public.
