The Village of Wayne IL seeks qualified candidates for full-time police officers.
The Village of Wayne (pop. 2,439 2020 Census) is a residential community nestled within the landscape of the Fox River Valley in the counties of Kane and DuPage, Illinois. Dunham Castle, the Dunham Woods Riding Club, and the "Village" are the key features that symbolize the tradition and heritage of Wayne. The Village of Wayne offers a rural, relaxed atmosphere, and is one of the few communities in northeastern Illinois that provides and encourages equestrian uses and facilities.
The Police Department is highly regarded by our residents, who have consistently supported their officers and the department in general. Notably, the Village was recently recognized as the seventh safest community in Illinois.

Applications are valid for one year from the date of submission.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must meet the following:
- Must be a certified police officer with the State of Illinois through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and have served in good standing in another law enforcement agency for at least 2 years preceding the application OR Applicants who have previously been certified as a law enforcement officer in another state must meet the conditions of reciprocity as regulated by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Must have earned a minimum of 60 accredited college/university credit hours or completed military service with an honorable discharge.
- Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character, of temperate habits, of sound health, and must be physically able to perform the essential job functions of the position of a police officer.
- No residency requirement.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Each phase of the process is pass/fail and required to proceed to next.

- Background investigation
- Post-offer examinations, including but not limited:
- Polygraph
- Physical examination and drug screen
- Psychological assessment
- All appointments are subject to a required 18 month probationary period
