The City of Des Plaines Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are accepting applications for the position of firefighter/paramedic.

Looking to hire 10 positions right away!

Firefighter/Paramedic Minimum Requirements:

• U.S. Resident
• No Felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions for offenses outlined in the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid Illinois driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• 20 to under 35 years of age as of the date of the written exam, but must be 21 prior to appointment, unless otherwise provided by the Rules and Regulations and/or Illinois Statutes (e.g., exception for attaining age 35 during military service, exception for certain pervious full-time firefighter employment)
• Illinois Department of Public Health or National Registry Paramedic License, or must be currently enrolled in a paramedic program at time of application.
• Must possess a CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate dated within one year of the application deadline.
• Vision correctable to 20/20
• Possess good moral character and sound health
• Submission of an online application and all documents listed on the checklist by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

• Military
• Fire Study/Cadet
• Education (Associates or Bachelor's Degree)
• Paramedic
• Experience
• Residency for at least 1 full year
• Certain Certifications
