Mandatory Orientation:

4/30/2022 at 9:30 AM

Written Exam:

4/30/2022 at 10:00 PM

Oral Interviews:

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the City of Kankakee is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter.

Testing is being conducted for immediate openings for 3 personnel and to establish an eligibility list for hiring needs for anticipated openings in the near future.

There will be a mandatory orientation on April 30, 2022 at 9:30 AM with the written exam to follow immediately afterwards at 10:00 AM at:

There will be a $20.00 non-refundable application fee due at time of written exam (cash or check).

Applicants must meet the following requirements for appointment:

• 21 years of age or under 35 years of age at date of hire (unless otherwise exempt by state law)
• U.S. Citizen or permeant resident
• Valid driver's license
• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Must have at least one of the three following certifications:
• Illinois Licensed Paramedic
• Illinois Licensed EMT-Basic
• Illinois Certified Firefighter 2 / Basic Operations Firefighter
• CPAT Certificate with date no later than one year from date of hire
• All personnel appointed will be required to obtain Paramedic License and Advanced Firefighter Technician Certification within 3 years of appointment as a condition of employment
