Position Details

Job Summary:

• The McHenry County State's Attorney's Office is looking for an Investigator to serve subpoenas and summons related to pending litigation involving the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
• The Investigator will also assist prosecutors with gathering evidence, locating witnesses, interviewing witnesses and transporting witnesses to court.
• The Investigator must be a certified police officer with the State of Illinois because the Investigator will assist local enforcement with pending criminal investigations, including working with the Human Trafficking Task Force and the Major Incident Assistance Team on complex criminal investigations. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Locate victims and witnesses using investigative tools
• Provide a wide range of investigative support to assist in the charging and prosecution of criminal cases
• Assist prosecutors by conducting interviews of witnesses and victims
• Function as an independent police investigator for matters of investigation that are the responsibility of the State's Attorney's Office
• Work cooperatively with local law enforcement
• Investigate cold cases as assigned
• Attend meetings and trainings as required
• Perform other related duties as needed 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Illinois Police Certified Training
• Valid driver's license
