Position Details

The Downers Grove Police Department is offering the opportunity of a Police Officer Lateral Eligibility List.

This means that sworn IL Police Officers, with a minimum of 2 years of experience, may apply to join our team!

Minimum requirements include:

• Must be a citizen of the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent high school education
• Sixty (60) semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited college or university
• Valid driver's license
• Must have been awarded a certificate attesting to the applicant's successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course, as provided in the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/1 et seq.)
• Must be currently serving as a sworn law enforcement on a full-time basis with the State of Illinois in a municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency
• Must be currently employed in good standing with his/her respective law enforcement agency for a minimum of two (2) years
• Valid Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) issued by testing date. POWER test cards are considered valid if issued within twelve (12) months PRIOR to the application (5/17/21 – 5/17/22)
