Police Officer Entry-Level Hiring Process

Zion Police Department

Zion, Illinois

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Zion, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Zion Police Department.

All Applicants Must Meet the Following Minimum Requirements to Apply:

• At least 21 years of age, not to exceed the age of 35, at time of application
• U.S. Citizen
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
• Successfully complete the P.O.W.E.R Test conducted through any of the following testing centers:
• Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) www.NIPSTA.org –OR-
• Joliet Junior College https://www.jjc.edu/about-jjc/places-interest/power-testing -OR-
• Triton Community College http://www.triton.edu/POWER/
• A POWER test card must be dated within 9 months PRIOR to the application deadline date and submitted with application

All Applicants Moving Forward In the Process Must Meet the Following:

• Successfully pass a written test with a score at or above 70%
• Successfully complete an oral interview
• Successfully complete a background investigation:
• Applicants will be required to fully disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files and submit to fingerprinting if required
• Successfully complete a psychological evaluation
• Successfully complete a medical physical, including drug and alcohol screening
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee (fee waived for City of Zion residents with proof of address)
• Application deadline: Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 4:00 PM
• Complete mandatory on-line written examination testing: Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 7:00 AM through Friday, June 10, 2022 at 7:00 AM.
