The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the City of Oak Forest now accepting applications for the positions of:
Pre-Certified Police Officer
Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire.
AND
Entry Level
Testing is being conducted for anticipated need to hire and for an Eligibility List for future hiring of additional officers.

Pre-Certified Officer Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Experience: Must be a current Full-Time Certified (by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board) Sworn Law Enforcement Officer with a minimum of two (2) years with current department, in a municipality, county, university, or State law enforcement agency in the State of Illinois at time of appointment with Oak Forest.
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
- Residence: At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the City of Oak Forest
- Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing which may include a polygraph and psychological Examination.
Entry Level Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
- Age requirement: Must be at least 21 years at the time of application (05/18/22). Must be under 35 years old at the time of application (05/18/22) AND at such time as the final eligibility register is posted, unless they have been employed and certified as a full-time law enforcement officer for a municipality in the United States, or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
- Residence: At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the City of Oak Forest
- Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
- P.O.W.E.R. Card: P.O.W.E.R. Card is not required at the time of testing. Candidates must possess a valid current P.O.W.E.R. Card at time of conditional offer of employment. No physical ability testing will be administered on the day of testing.

There is a $35.00 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Oak Forest Police Department or City Hall.
