• Starting: $97,822.40

  Top Salary: $120K, after 7 years of service (per approved collective bargaining contract)

Position Details

POLICE OFFICER

LATERAL HIRE

The City of Aurora’s Police Department is seeking experienced Police Officers for lateral entry.

An alternative eligibility list of candidates who have previously been full-time sworn officers, in good standing, of a police department of a municipality, county, or state law enforcement agency will be established.

Qualified candidates must:

• Be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board
• Have a minimum of two (2) years as a full-time police officer with a law enforcement agency within the State of Illinois

The selection process will include the following components:

• Oral interview/examination
• Background investigation
• Polygraph and psychological assessments
• Medical examination 

Upon selection candidates must pass:

• Physical Agility Assessment
• Polygraph
• Psychological Evaluation
