Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of University Park are now accepting applications for the position of Lateral Hire Police Officer.

Recruiting is being conducted for an immediate need to hire four (4) Officers.

The University Park Police Department’s mission is to provide the community with professional police services in a partnership with the citizens while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons.  They demonstrate their commitment in protecting and serving their citizens while providing the quality of life identified for a safe and growing village.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Experience: Must be currently employed as a certified full-time, sworn officer of a regular police department in any municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency, provided they are certified by the Illinois Training and Standards Board as a Law Enforcement Officer or Deputy Sheriff and have been with their respective law enforcement agency, in good standards, for at least two (2) continuous years.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Residence:  Must reside within a (30) mile radius of the University Park Village Hall within one year of your employment date.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
