Duties:

The school resource officer will support the district and assigned school by providing security, crime prevention, emergency management, crisis management, truancy investigations, and residency investigations. The school resource officer acts as the liaison between the school district and local law enforcement agency.

Responsibilities:

The school resource officer is responsible for but not limited to:

1. Provide security and crime prevention to the school district.
2. Support school administration in truancy related issues.
3. Support school superintendent in residency issues.
4. Act as liaison between district administration and local authorities.
5. Provide a wide variety of professional and technical work and investigations for the protection of life, safety and welfare within the District, including the enforcement of local ordinances, state and federal statutes.
6. Provide security with visibility and presence in school buildings.
7. Build relationships with students and staff in the buildings.
8. Support the supervision of students with appropriate referrals to District personnel.
9. Assist in the prevention of crime/delinquency on District campuses and surrounding areas where student involvement is known or suspected.
10. Provide informal consultation with students and staff.
11. Provide direct and indirect instructional resources for classroom presentations.
12. Act as an advisor and provide assistance to school administrators in traffic and parking related issues on or around school property.
13. Coordinate with the school administration for extracurricular supervision for the schools and for afterschool activities.
14. Act as an advisor to the administrators for the District Crisis plan.
15. Assist all three campuses on potential police issues.
16. Perform all duties at school armed.
17. Performs such other duties that from time to time may be assigned and appropriate to the position.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a police officer.
