The police department currently employs 32 full-time police officers, 6 part-time officers and 2 community service officers that handle nearly 30,000 calls per year. Grayslake Police currently serve the Village of Hainesville as part of a police services contract in effect since 2011. Patrol officers work a twelve-hour shift with alternating weekends off.

To take the police officer candidate eligibility exam and become part of our team, you must be:

• 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of application
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Possess a power test card from NIPSTA or other ILETSB (Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board) certified physical testing facility with a date no earlier than 1/15/2022 (test cannot be older than 9 months prior to the date of exam)
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork, (including military docs, copies of birth certificate, power test card and school transcripts along with ANY other paperwork or copies specified in the application packet) no later than 9/30/22 by noon
