A $25.00 non-refundable administrative and processing fee is required before an application is considered complete.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Have been employed, whether currently or in the past, for at least two (2) years as a full time, non-probationary, sworn law enforcement officer by a Federal, State, County or local law enforcement agency. Applicants must be in good standing with the agency in which they served. (Part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.)
• Must have completed the State of Illinois certified police officer training board requirements.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of application. Applicants who are currently police officers, or have previously been police officers, and are less than 42 years of age, are exempt from the 35-year age limit. 
• Education: High school education or equivalent thereof.
• Experience: Must have previously been a full-time sworn Police Officer in any municipal, county, university or state or federal law enforcement agency, provided they are certified or have the ability to be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and have been previously employed as a law enforcement officer within the last two (2) years..
• Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Residency: Must reside within Cook, DuPage or Will County.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, including but not limited to: background investigation, psychological and medical examination, etc.
• Ability to furnish upon request, a copy of the following, to the extent applicable: a resume; professional licenses; training certificates; naval or military service board and discharge papers (DD-214/Copy 4); documents confirming work experience; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate; last two employee evaluations; two police reports demonstrating best work and any other employment related material as requested or required.

Applicants must meet a variety of qualifications, as specified in the Rules and Regulations of the Board and State Statutes, including but not limited to the following:

• State Certification for Police Officer
• 4 years of Police experience
• U.S. Citizenship. 
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Thorough Background Investigation
• No Felony Conviction
• Between the ages of 25 - 41
• Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, nights, weekends and holidays
