• Starting: $56,522.00 with 2 years experience

  This service transfer shall apply to wages, longevity, vacation earning, but shall not apply to seniority, shift bidding, or the time necessary to qualify for promotion consideration.

  • Members are part of the Police Benevolent and Protective Association Police Unit.
  • Officers work 12 hour shifts, 84 hours straight pay, every other weekend off (Average 14 work days a month).
  • Eleven holidays off, including your birthday
  • 2 personal days
  • 10 vacation and 12 sick days a year (capped at 75 days)
  • Plus earned comp-time hours max 60 hours per pay period
  • 100% paid Health/life/dental/vision
  • Downstate Police pension
  • Residency of up to 25 miles of city limits, 5 miles or less will have a take home squad.

Position Details

The Carlinville Police Department has established a Lateral Transfer program for new hires.

Officers with 2 years of experience with the same department and in good standing with their agency are eligible.

Applicants can bring up to 10 years of service as a certified police officer to our department.

Our staffing is authorized at 13 officers, which includes the Chief, Lieutenant of Operations, Two shift Sergeants, 1 School Resource Officer, 1 Detective and 7 Patrol Officers. Lieutenant and Sergeants all work patrol shifts also.

Carlinville is a small rural farming community with a population of 6,000 people. We have an excellent school system, 4 city parks, historic Sears home district, City Square and home to Blackburn College.
