  Step 1: $48,062 (Completion of Basic Operations Firefighter Academy or PFD Probationary Passport)

  Step 2: $51,375 (Completion of both Basic Operations Firefighter Academy and Pontiac Fire Department Probationary Passport)

Position Details

The Pontiac Fire Department is now accepting applications to create a Full-time Firefighter Eligibility List.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Citizen of the United States.
• Good physical condition.
• Age requirements by the time of appointment will follow the Illinois Statute Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
• Height and weight shall be proportionate.
• Valid driver's license with a good record.
• Hold a current Paramedic license in the state of Illinois by the time of hire. 

POST-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Attend and pass an Illinois State Certified Basic Operations Firefighter Academy as well as obtain an Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal certification as a Basic Operations Firefighter.
• Shall reside within 20 miles from the City of Pontiac limits. For newly hired employees, such residency shall be established no later than the date of the completion of the employee's probationary period.
