Position Details

The West Dundee, Illinois Fire and Police Commission is accepting applications for the position of firefighter/paramedic with the West Dundee Fire Department.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of West Dundee:

• At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of written examination (January 15, 2023), except per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/0-1-7 and 5/10-1-12 of the Civil Service Act, which provides in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois;
• U.S. Citizenship;
• No felony convictions and must be of good moral character;
• High school graduate or GED equivalent;
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record;
• Possess a valid EMT-B License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) (At the time of Oral Interview (January 24, 2023);
• Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) (at the time of conditional employment offer);
• Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb at the time of conditional employment offer, with an issue date within 12 months of the date of at the time of conditional employment;
• Must complete the Basic Operations Firefighter academy, if not already certified, within the first year of employment;
• Must successfully pass a written examination with a score of 70% or better;
• Residency within 35 Miles of the Village of West Dundee within one year of hire;
• Applications must be submitted online by Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 4:00 PM. Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted;
• Participate in a mandatory on-line written examination offered between Thursday, January 12, 2023 and Sunday, January 15, 2023.
