  This is a part-time position (not eligible for benefits) approximately 18 hours a week with flexible scheduling.

  Selected applicants will be provided the appropriate duty gear and will participate in a paid field training program with Shorewood Police field training officers.

Position Details

Shorewood, Illinois (pop. 18,186) is accepting applications for Community Service Officer (CSO) positions within the Shorewood Police Department.

Under the direction of the police department supervisory staff, CSO's will be expected to:

1. Assist the public and Shorewood Police Officers with public service tasks such as car seat installs, traffic control, motorist assists, etc.
2. Deliver documents to various industry partners, including prosecutors and courts.
3. Maintain basic first aid certifications required in support of duties.
4. Issue written warnings and citations for parking and other minor violations.
5. Write detailed incident, investigation, activity, and other reports.
6. Performs other duties as assigned or needed. 

Applicants must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Demonstrate a satisfactory knowledge of motor vehicle operation
