• Starting: $63,555 + $2,689 holiday pay = $66,244

  After 1 Year: $71,354 + $3,019 holiday pay = $74,373

Position Details

The Board of the Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Lansing is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Police Officer.

Testing is being conducted for an expected need to hire several Police Officers and to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated additional hiring needs.

You must meet the following requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be citizens of the United States and/or an alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain a Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (02/01/23) and must be under the age of 35 years on 02/01/2023 and when final eligibility register is posted unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer for a municipality in the United States.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.  In addition – Minimum 60 hours of college level courses at time of hiring process; OR One continuous year of active duty in US Armed Forces; OR Two years of full time experience as a state certified law enforcement officer.
• Residence:  There are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Lansing.
• P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must have POWER card from a registered testing agency dated between 02-18-22 thru 02-18-23.
