• Starting: $44,662

  Successful hires may be eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive.

  This position is part of a FOP Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that is currently being negotiated. It is expected the starting salary will increase in 2023.

  If you are a lateral applicant, you may qualify for an increase in salary based on your years of experience, per the CBA.

Position Details

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking qualified individuals to join our diverse team as a full time Correctional Officer (CO).

As a CO, you will control the movement and safety of inmates and help maintain the safety and security of the jail.

Successful applicants must be able to maintain authority while also relying on interpersonal communication to successfully manage a challenging work environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED/equivalency
• 21 years of age
• Ability to successfully pass a background check, psychological exam, and physical exam
• Must be willing to relocate to Champaign County or adjacent counties upon hire 

OTHER INFORMATION:

We are a 24/7 operation and a candidate must be willing to work any shift. Shifts are based on seniority and bid for 6 months at a time per the CBA.
