Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 21 to 35 years of age by date of the written examination unless otherwise exempt by statute.
• Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) paramedic license due by time of conditional offer.
• CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate(s) dated within one year of the application deadline. Must be dated 04/11/2022 – 04/11/2023 (must also be valid at date of conditional letter of appointment)
• If candidate does not have State of Illinois OSFM Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certificate at time of hire, the Fire District will facilitate BOF training and certification. Applicants in possession are required to submit a copy with their application. 

About the District:

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District (LWFD) employs some of the country's highly skilled and trained firefighters/paramedics. Each is committed to protecting our community while continually identifying ways to improve the delivery of emergency services.

Since 1993, the Fire District has maintained an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Class 1 rating. In 2019, the Fire District earned Accredited Agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).

The Fire District is the busiest in DuPage County, with a protection area covering portions of the Village of Lisle, Village of Woodridge, Village of Glen Ellyn and Unincorporated DuPage County. The District's resident population is approximately 63,256 spread over 24 square miles. Due to extensive commercial and business properties, the daytime population can rise to over 90,000.

Multi-national corporations, including Navistar and Molex corporations headquartered within the protection area. Morton Arboretum is also located within the District. Federal and State government buildings are served including an FBI Field Office. LWFD also provides services to Benedictine University and College of DuPage Community College campuses as well as numerous public/private school facilities. Critical infrastructure protected includes Villages' of Lisle and Woodridge government centers, water treatment and telecommunications. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line runs through the District. Portions of two major interstate roadways, I-88 & I-355, are located within LWFD.

LWFD utilizes a collaborative approach, and has established automatic and mutual aid agreements through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 16.

The District is a leader in specialty teams within the area participating in regional hazardous materials, technical rescue, swift-water and dive rescue, SWAT medic, and fire/arson investigation.
