This is a listing for the position of a sworn police officer. 

The City of Rockford is looking for individuals who represent the diversity in thought and experiences, which are shared by our citizens.

Candidates:

• Must have strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Should possess good interpersonal skills, common sense and have the ability to problem solve.
• At the time of application, be employed currently or have been employed within the preceding twelve (12) months as a certified full-time officer with an Illinois law enforcement agency; or be employed currently or have been employed within the preceding twelve (12) months as a certified full-time police officer with an out-of-state municipal, county, or state law enforcement agency, provided that such an out-of-state lateral applicant also must meet the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board "Out of State Reciprocity" requirements as in effect from time to time.
