Full-time entry level Police Officer

The Village of Fox River Grove is now accepting applications for entry level police officer candidates to establish a hiring list for future hiring needs.

Open positions are expected in 2023.

The Village of Fox River Grove is primarily a residential community with a commercial component located approximately 30 miles northwest of Chicago. The Fox River Grove Police Department serves a population of 4,702 residents living in McHenry and Lake County.

The Village of Fox River Grove Police Department has nine (9) full-time and four (4) part-time officers.

Minimum qualification requirements include:

• Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application
• No felony convictions
• Possess a valid driver’s license 
• U.S. citizenship
• Possess a valid Illinois FOID card at time of appointment
• High school diploma, GED certificate or high school proficiency statement 
• Possession of a valid POWER Test ID card issued after 1/1/2023. To obtain a POWER Test ID Card visit www.NIPSTA.org/202/Power-test.

Hiring Process Schedule:

• Complete and submit all application materials (must meet all minimum qualification requirements)
• Attend and take a written examination at the Fox River Grove Village Hall – Upper level (305 Illinois Street, Fox River Grove, IL 60021) on Saturday July 1, 2023 at 9:00 AM.  Testing is mandatory and a passing score of 70% or greater is required.
• Complete an oral interview at a date and time yet to be determined.

Any conditional offers of employment are subject to the following professional examinations in order to be considered for appointment:

• Background investigation
• Polygraph examination
• Psychological examination
• Medical examination
