The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors in the assigned school while under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor of Security or Designee. This position will work in tandem with the Student Supervisors and the Dean's Office to maintain order and discipline, prevent crime, and investigate student violations of school board policies on school property or at school-sponsored events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. May be required to stand for long periods (3-4 hours). The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly/daily. The employee is required to use computers and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read type or hand written material. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle (automobile). Must be able to address emergency situations including the use of a firearm or other defensive weapon. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet but can also be that of a high school and can be loud when in places like gyms and cafeterias. The employee is continuously interacting with students and staff.
