Status as a sworn municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency for one year after completion of a probationary period or otherwise equaling two years total, and
Be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, and
In good standing in the law enforcement agency in which the person serves, served, or laid off due to budgetary restraints, and
Possesses substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a City of Geneva Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the City, and
Possesses an associate degree or 60 semester hours of credit from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, and
Must be a United States citizen, and
Must possess a valid IL driver's license, and
Taken and passed such examinations as the Fire & Police Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer, and
Reside within 25 miles of the corporate limits of the City (as measured by straight-line distances), from and after any applicable introductory period, and
Must submit at time of application: a resume with a statement of interest and description of specialty assignments in your police career; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate and diploma or transcripts of higher learning; driver's license, Illinois Standards & Training Board certificate; and signed application checklist, If applicable, submit service discharge papers, and
Ability to furnish only upon request: other professional licenses; training certificates; documents confirming work experience; employee evaluations; references, and any other employment-related material as requested or required.
