All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the City of Wilmington: 

• U.S. citizenship  
• No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, as specified in ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
• Possess a valid state-issued driver's license with good driving record
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Possess a valid NIPSTA card – OR - equivalent criteria as per the State standard, issued within the past 12 months
• POWER Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton College or Joliet Junior College will be accepted
• Must possess a full-time Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) police officer certification and have previously been a full-time sworn officer of a regular police department in any municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency in the State of Illinois;
• ILETSB Certification must be currently in good standing, and it is preferred that applicant not have been out of law enforcement for a period of more than three (3 years) and subject to ILETSB approval
• Will be required to complete an oral interview, background investigation, psychological, behavioral, and physical examination, including drug testing
• Must be available to work all 3 shifts, work weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary
