Police Officer - Lateral Entry

Hawthorn Woods Is Accepting Police Lateral Entry Applicants to fill an immediate opening for a Police Officer Position.

The Hawthorn Woods Police Department is accepting lateral entry to the police department.

This shall be open to any full-time police officer who is employed by any municipal, township, county, parish, university, state, commonwealth, federal, or regularly constituted law enforcement agency.

Hawthorn Woods is known for its beautiful neighborhoods, great school districts, open spaces, natural resource friendly parks and recreation areas. We are an upscale, friendly community that is an oasis from the suburban pace. We love our town with its rural atmosphere located only 40 miles from downtown Chicago. 

In addition to requirements outlined in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.16, applicants must:

• Provide documentation of continuous service as a police officer for a minimum of two years, and
• Be in good standing in the police department in which the person currently serves, and
• If currently serving as a police officer within the State of Illinois, certification from the Illinois Training and Standards Board as a certified full-time police officer, or
• If currently serving as a police officer outside the State of Illinois, be eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
