Police Officer Application

Hawthorn Woods is known for its beautiful neighborhoods, great school districts, open spaces, natural resource friendly parks and recreation areas. We are an upscale, friendly community that is an oasis from the suburban pace. We love our town with its rural atmosphere located only 40 miles from downtown Chicago.

Minimum Requirements:

• $35.00 non-refundable application fee. Bring check on day of exam payable to Village of Hawthorn Woods.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years at the time of application. Must be under 35 years old at the time of application, unless they have been certified as a full-time police officer in the United States, or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.

Additional details and guidelines will be provided approximately one week before the exam.

The Initial Eligibility Register is subject to change with the addition of the Veterans, Educational or Law Enforcement Certification Preference Points as prescribed in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-8 and 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-9. Preference points will be as stated and not cumulative.
