• $21.35 to $30.38/hour, based on a step system

  Starting salary and step is dependent on qualifications.

  The part-time schedule can be set in cooperation with the Patrol Sergeant with flexibility and altered as needed at approximately 28 hours per week.

Position Details

The Village of North Aurora is seeking a collaborative Community Service Officer to join the dedicated staff team.

This part-time position is a non-sworn, unarmed, uniformed position responsible for a variety of public service, customer service, and law enforcement related duties and responsibilities that do not require the services of a sworn police officer.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Parking enforcement
• Animal complaints
• Traffic control
• General village ordinance violations
• Assistance to motorists
• Variety of administrative duties in the Police Department 

The Community Service Officer will be supervised directly by a Patrol Sergeant and interact regularly with Police Department and Code Enforcement staff.

Candidate requirements:

• High school degree or GED certificate.
• 18 Years of age or older.
• Current & Valid Driver's license. 

An ideal candidate will also have:

• Knowledge of Basic police department functions, code enforcement, and related municipal government operations and procedures.
• Interpersonal skills for interaction with the public.
• The use of standard office equipment, including computers and relevant software.
• Enrollment at an accredited College/University in criminal justice, fire science, or a public safety related field.
