Hanover Township (population 101,000) located in northwest Cook County, Illinois, is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time Director of Emergency Services position.
The Director is responsible for the organization, administration, training, and operation of the Emergency Services Department and serves as the liaison and coordinator between the department and local, county, state, federal, and non-governmental agencies.
The Hanover Township Department of Emergency Services is trained to respond to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency events to either assist primary emergency responders or operate independently in times of natural or manmade disasters. The department consists of more than thirty professional volunteers that provide a properly equipped, trained, and ready unit to assist Hanover Township residents and the public safety agencies that serve them.
The Director will plan and direct activities of the Hanover Township Emergency Services Department. Additionally, the Director will perform a variety of administrative functions including volunteer recruitment and management and preparation of monthly reports and annual budgets. The Director will be responsible for providing preparatory training to all volunteers to ensure safety when performing emergency related activities and callouts that support local public safety agencies. In addition, the Director will supervise all activities and personnel of the Department of Emergency Services directly overseeing the volunteer Deputy Director and Director Aids/Safety Officers.
The Director of Emergency Services position requires a Bachelor's Degree in emergency management, public administration or a related field; four to seven years related experience in an Illinois local government in emergency management, law enforcement, fire and rescue, or closely related field, and the candidate must be comfortable with Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
