Position Details

The Harper College Police Department is currently seeking applicants for the Police Emergency Communications Telecommunicator position.

The Telecommunicator provides all communications functions, information, and reporting support for the Police Department.

The successful candidates will keep records, logs and schedules of the calls received and actions taken utilizing a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS).

You will also handle all emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for the Police Department at all three Harper College Campuses: Palatine, Prospect Heights, and Schaumburg as well as handling all communications via radio and telephone for all campuses.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems (LEADS)/National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) certification(s) or previous certification in another state's equivalent system preferred
• Experience in Emergency (Police/Fire/EMS) Dispatching utilizing a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS) required.
• Ability to multitask under high stress situations and excellent customer service skills required.
• Familiarity with Word and Excel required.
