About the UICPD Patrol Operations:
The UIC Police Department’s Patrol Operations Division is the largest unit within the police department. Its officers operate every day and night across three different shifts. Patrol officers can be seen touring the UIC area in police cars, on bikes, or on foot patrols. It is protocol for a Patrol Officer to be dispatched when someone calls our dispatch center.

Employees in this position safeguard lives and property by enforcing applicable laws and regulations and promoting good university/community relations. They work under general supervision of higher-level personnel.
NOTE: Persons who have not successfully completed the mandated firearm training course, as approved, and recognized by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board, must complete the course during their probationary period. Police officers are not authorized to carry a service weapon until successfully completing such training.

If an applicant has taken and passed the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy’s (NIPSTA) Joliet Jr. College, Triton College’s Power Test, or Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy (SWIC) Power Test, and Human Resources has confirmed the candidate has received the NIPSTA’s Power Test ID card/certification or Joliet Junior College, Triton College’s POWER Test ID card or SWIC Power Test card since March 9, 2023, you must upload the POWER/Training card/certificate to request to be waived from the Physical Fitness Exam, if meeting all minimum requirements.
