PROPERTY ROOM ASSISTANT/COURT LIAISON – POLICE DEPARTMENT
Elk Grove Village (population 33,127 with a daytime population near 100,000) is located in Cook and DuPage Counties adjacent to O’Hare International Airport. Elk Grove Village is home to the nation’s largest contiguous business park, with approximately 3,600 businesses calling the 5-square-mile park their home.
The Village of Elk Grove seeks a Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison.
The Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison position is a part-time, non-sworn position that provides a variety of administrative support roles to the Elk Grove Village Police Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of Evidence/Property Room operations; processes receipts for evidence and property.
- Validate incoming property control records according to the protocol for accuracy and completeness.
- Make pick-ups and deliveries of laboratory evidence at the crime lab.
- Retrieve property from storage and release it to authorized persons.
- Perform pre-inspection audits of station records for compliance with departmental policy and evidence and property legal requirements.
- Participate in periodic unit inventories and audits of evidence and other property items.
- Additional duties include Court Liaison as an administrative function to support police officers in their work with the courts to process people through the court system.
- Applicant must have and be able to maintain the highest level of integrity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience, and Training
- Completion of college coursework is preferred, as well as a minimum of three to five years of municipal law enforcement experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- This position is responsible for a high degree of accuracy in office duties and the use of computers and software applications.
- Must be well-versed in criminal and court proceedings, able to write concise reports, and willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

20 hours per week
