This is a part-time position that will be scheduled for 20 hours per week as needed.
This position qualifies for an Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension.
The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (13,463 – 2020 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and manufacturing areas. Under direct supervision of the Watch Commander, the Community Service Officer performs a variety of law enforcement activities related to ordinance violations that do not require police authority, physical arrest, or activities that do not relate to a crime in progress.
The Community Service Officer (part-time) provides customer service to the public in a courteous and professional manner. The position assists police officers with traffic control at accident scenes, fires, and special events and patrols areas of the city where parking violations are common and issues citations as necessary. The Community Service Officer takes private property accident reports and minor offense reports as a directed by a supervisor, enforces ordinance violations including parking, animals, and vehicle stickers, investigates complaints of animal bites, lost pets and other related issues. The Community Service Officer also will assist with administrative adjudication proceedings with circuit court transmittals and assist with prisoner watch in the lock-up facility.
